STARR Trek Kids and Mini Sprint Triathlon

Thanks to all the participants and volunteers who made the 2008 STARR Trek (held August 9) a huge success!

The STARR Trek is a fun, entry-level race for children and adults of all ability levels. The race takes place each year in August at the Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi campus. It is primarily geared toward beginners, but the short, flat course is popular with experienced triathletes as well. It is put on by the STARRS (South Texas Area Runners, Riders, and Swimmers) triathlon club and benefits the Nueces County Children's Advocacy Center and the Tarpon Foundation. This is a USAT (USA Triathlon) sanctioned event.

Awards
The top three males and females in each individual age group receive medals (sorry no relays, clydesdale, or athena). Age groups are: 7–8, 9–10, 11–12, 13–15, 16–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, and 70+.

Grand Prize
Kids in the 7–10 age group are eligible for the grand door prize: a kids Trek road bike. This is awarded by drawing after the race. Thanks to Bay Area Bicycles and STARRS for donating the bike.

Fun stuff
The first 100 entrants receive a baseball cap, and all participants will receive a race t-shirt. We have a Moon Bounce and activity area for the kids.
